Marking a 20th anniversary with the
innovative style we've come to expect
from the Festival, Divers/Cité offers up
a whopper of a gift for its loyal
festival-goers: the event's outdoor site
makes the move to Old Montreal! This
year's signature series of outdoor
happenings will be held in the Old Port
on the Jacques-Cartier pier from August
2 to 5, 2012.
Motivated by a desire for growth and by
the increasing constraints of its
previous site, the organization has made
the decision to move its outdoor stages
to a space better suiting its needs and
the expectations of festival-goers. The
recent move of Terminus Voyageur to
Berri Street, the reduction of available
space in Émilie-Gamelin Park and the
sector’s recent vocational changes have
made further development perspectives
for the Festival in the area near
impossible.
Because good news always comes in pairs,
Divers/Cité is also pleased to announce
a vibrant 10th edition of La Grande
Danse, with Spanish house superstars
Chus & Ceballos and New York giant David
Morales performing their legendary genre
defining sounds between sky and sea on
the banks of the St. Lawrence River! You
can also expect a flamboyant 15th
edition of Mascara, as Mado and her
harem of queens and dancers put on an
unforgettable show inspired by the
Festival's spectacular new scenery!
Divers/Cité celebrates, each year and
through its cultural manifestations, the
plurality and diversity of individuals
in an all-inclusive, friendly and
festive environment. The festival’s
programming is mostly held outdoor and
includes a wide variety of genres and
disciplines. For more information on the
